The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially confirmed the grant payment schedule for February 2026 and clarified the correct procedure beneficiaries must follow if they wish to change their grant payment method.
To ensure an efficient and orderly payout process, SASSA will distribute social grants over three consecutive days.
SASSA Grant Payment Dates for February 2026
Beneficiaries can expect their grants to be paid on the following dates:
- Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 3 February 2026
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 4 February 2026
- Children’s Grants and all other grants: Thursday, 5 February 2026
SASSA advises beneficiaries to avoid rushing to withdrawal points on the first day, as funds will remain available once paid into accounts.
How to Change SASSA Banking Details or Payment Method
SASSA has also reiterated the official process for beneficiaries who want to change their banking details or payment method to avoid unnecessary delays or complications.
Beneficiaries are required to present the following documents:
- A valid South African ID document
- Proof of bank account details
- If the account is new: an official bank confirmation letter
- If the account is existing: a bank statement covering the last three months
Once these documents are ready, beneficiaries must visit their nearest SASSA Local Office. At the office, they will be required to complete and sign a consent form authorising SASSA to process the change of payment details.
Important Deadline to Avoid Payment Delays
SASSA has stressed that timing is critical when submitting a change request.
According to the agency, changes should be submitted before the 19th of each month. Requests made after this date may not be processed in time for the following payment cycle, which could result in delayed grant payments.
